Yes, I'm still alive...
I think last time i wrote anything here, i was talking about work consuming the better part of my life. Well, folks, that's about to end. I'm being laid off. But i guess i'm just part of a big crowd tumbling off the edge of the cliff that is a stable financial life.
You see, I've spent the last year and a half working for a company called Alaska Gold Co. (it's a subsidiary of NovaGold Resources, Inc. in Canada)
at the Rock Creek Mine near Nome, Alaska. NovaGold was not insusceptible to the effects of the global financial "ohshit" that most everyone has been affected by. That, in addition to poorly functioning machinery (in arctic conditions? whodathunkit?), has lead management to put a halt on all things at the mine. I, therefore, am jobless come the 28th of December.
Terrible news, you say? "Oh Noes", you say? Well, these are true phrases, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. For one, this will give me plenty of time to catch up on the photography part of my life. For another, my biggest problem aside from getting laid off is that i have too many more options for the future! I am good and ready, financially, to go back to school. I've also got several job opportunities already (Panama, Australia, etc.)
So, i'll be doing my best to throw some of my photos on dA when i can. Keep yer eyes peel'd.
many thanks Eric for the
